For the last couple of years, the World Series of Poker has held Academies to help players improve their tournament skills. Now, the WSOP is delving into the realm of cash games with their new cash game academies.

The WSOP will hold two cash game academies with the first to run from January 24-25, 2009 at Harrah’s in Atlantic City, NJ. The second installment will run February 7-8 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, NV.

These academies will focus on cash game strategies and will help players improve their skills in the areas of reading players, placing players on hand ranges, and managing one’s bankroll. Both Mark Seif and Alex Outhred will be the primary instructors for both academies. Paul Wasicka will join the pair in Atlantic City and Michael Gracz will assist in the academy in Las Vegas. Most of the instruction will occur via video analysis by the pros to help academy participants improve their cash game strategies.

In addition to seminars, there will be live play workshops where the pros will analyze their student’s play. The events will be capped off with a live game competition. The winner of the live game competition will receive a trip to the Tournament of Champions in 2009. The TOC will be held prior to the start of the 2009 World Series of Poker.

The cost for the academy is $1,899. Students have the option to signup by paying only $499.75 and then breaking the rest of the fee up over a three month period. For more information about these or any other WSOP Academies, go to www.wsopacademy.com.
In addition to the cash game academies, the WSOP will still hold their other academies throughout the year. Logon to find an academy near you.
