The first event of the 2008-2009 World Series of Poker Circuit is in full swing. The first of 10 WSOP-C events began on Oct 2nd at the Horseshoe Southern Indiana, located in Elizabeth, IN. 10 events in total will be held during this first of a 10 circuit event stint.

The World Series of Poker Circuit is a series of tournaments held by the World Series of Poker to give the event exposure on a regional scale. To some, the circuit is part of the minor leagues of poker. Most of the preliminary events in each circuit are played by amateurs and local pros. The Main Event of each circuit event is when some of the big boys come to town.

Each circuit event series has a $5,000 Main Event Championship that includes a seat into the Main Event in Las Vegas at the next World Series of Poker. It is not uncommon to see several top professionals show up and take their shot at both the prize money and the gold ring. Gold rings are the circuit’s equivalent of a bracelet.
