This year, poker fans will have the opportunity to help decide who gets inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. A special nomination page has been setup on the World Series of Poker’s website that will allow fans to nominate poker players or poker industry figures to be considered for election.

In addition to submitting a name, fans will be give up to 250 words to tell why they think that the person should be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. Nominations will be taken until July 2nd. After that point, the top 10 finalists will be announced during the WSOP Main Event.

After the finalists are announced, those nominees will be passed on to the Hall of Fame Committee in August. Those 10 nominees and any other nominees that the Committee decides to look at will be condensed into a finalist ballot. This ballot will be passed onto the living members of the Poker Hall of Fame for voting. A select group of media members will also assist in the voting. At this point, any nominee receiving 75% of the vote will be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame.

Fan can go to http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/pokerhalloffame/halloffamevoting.asp to cast their ballot. When voting for the hall of fame, the following items should be considered:

• Played for high stakes
• Played consistently well, gaining the respect of peers
• Stood the test of time
• Or, for non-players, contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker, with indelible positive and lasting results.
