Phil Hellmuth Uses His Celebrity to Help Charity
Phil Hellmuth extended his all-time WSOP bracelet record by winning his 12th bracelet at the 2012 WSOP. Now, Hellmuth has turned his attention to a couple of his more charitable endeavors.
The first of those endeavors is through the website charitybuzz.com. The site is auctioning off an evening with Phil Hellmuth at the Aria Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. The package includes a two-night stay at Aria’s Sky Suites, the premiere luxury hotel in Las Vegas.
Whomever wins the package will receive a 2 hour poker lesson from Hellmuth followed by Dinner with Phil at BarMasa restaurant. They will also receive books and merchandise from Hellmuth directly.
The proceeds from this auction will go to benefit Sports Spectacular and Peace Thru Sports.
Hellmuth’s other endeavor is the Hold’em with Hellmuth Celebrity Poker Event benefiting Agrace HospiceCare. This event is a evening of entertainment, poker, and charity where participants can interact with Hellmuth and other celebrities such as poker pros Jerry Yang and Gavin Smith, Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian, and more.
The poker tournament is a $300 buy-in tournament with $100 or $200 rebuys. Whomever wins the event gets to play heads-up with Hellmuth. In addition, there are raffle drawings where players can enter to win a new car or a seat in the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event. In addition, the event will hold a silent auction.
This event also offers Entertainment tickets for $100 for those that don’t want to play in the event but want to attend and otherwise contribute. For $500, players get to enter the event and have access to the VIP section which implies they will have greater access to the tournament and its celebrity players.
Hellmuth has long been a big supporter of charity and has used his celebrity whenever possible to advance worthy causes. While he may be considered a brat at the poker table, he has definitely proven himself to be a generous gentleman away from them.
