Peter Eastgate became the youngest person to ever win the World Series of Poker Main Event when he came out on top of the November Nine in 2008. Now, with the help of his brother, he has begun the charitable organization Friends of Eastgate. The purpose of the organization, according to its mission statement, is to collect money that “will go to a charitable organization that supports helping children in need.”

According to the mission statement, Friends of Eastgate plans to raise money via several avenues, “including charity poker tournament, charity golf tournaments and other events where generous people will have a chance to meet and play with celebrities and some of the best professional poker players in the world.” Eastgate will also work with Pokerstars.com to put on some online charity tournaments so that even the online community can participate.

According to the website, Eastgate chose to found this organization and make children its beneficiary because “children does not chose the place they are born and the circumstances they are brought into the world under.”

Peter Eastgate is the current WSOP Main Event Champion after surviving a fantastic heads-up match with Ivan Demidov at the WSOP Main Event final table on November 10th. He took home over $9 Million in prize money and at 22 became the youngest WSOP Main Event Champion in history.

The first event to be held by this organization will be announced February 26th on their website. For more information about how you can help, visit www.friendsofeastgate.com.
