In 2006, 46 bracelets were awarded at the 2006 World Series of Poker.  Now, it appears that another bracelet from that year will be awarded almost five years after the fact.  The Leaf Trading Card company has announced a series of new poker cards that will hit the market in October along with a promotion that will award a 2006 WSOP bracelet.

Nine lucky collectors will get to play for this.

Leaf will release 2011 Leaf Poker on October 15th.  This series of cards will consist of all autographed cards of both poker players and poker celebrities.  Among the pros in the set are 10-time bracelet winners Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan, as well as bracelet winners Annie Duke, Daniel Negreanu, Greg Raymer, Jason Mercier, and 11-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth.

Among the special inserts are “Final Table Signature” cards where players have signed actual pieces of poker table felt.  Celebrity player signatures include Orel Hershiser, Brad Garrett, Jason Alexander, and Lou Diamond Phillips.

The special promotion from Leaf centers around 9 “Clover cards” that will be inserted into the series run.  The lucky collectors that pull those cards will be able to take part in an online single table tournament that will award a 2006 WSOP bracelet.

Details about the bracelet have not been released as of yet, so it is unknown whether this is a winner’s bracelet or if it was an extra bracelet that Leaf has purchased for the promotion.

The release date on the cards is October 15th of this year.  Collectors will receive five cards for each pack that they purchase, and the cards are expected to be in the high-end price range.

What the value of these cards will be remains to be seen. Poker is still a somewhat niche market.  The celebrity cards may prove to be the most valuable part of the set outside of poker fans.
