The class for the 2009 Women’s Poker Hall of Fame has been announced. Jan Fisher, June Field, and Cyndy Violette will be among those honored on June 5th at the Golden Nugget in Las Vegas, NV. This is the 2nd class to be inducted into the Women’s Hall of Fame and each inductee has contributed to poker in their own way.

June Field is a WSOP bracelet winner whom won the 1982 Ladies Stud Event. Many people are not familiar with Field, but they are familiar with her work. Field founded Card Player magazine in 1988 as a media outlet for both poker players and poker advertisers. She also founded Card Player Cruises and Classic Poker Cruises. She also founded Poker Digest, which later merged with Casino Player magazine.

Jan Fisher helped to found the Tournament Directors Association, which is the main organization that governs the rules of tournament poker. She also serves as a board member on the Board of Directors for the Poker Players Alliance and on the Ladies International Poker Series. She is actively involved in various charitable endeavors and serves as a WPT Boot Camp instructor.

Cyndy Violette headlines this year’s class of entrants. Violette started as a blackjack dealer and eventually became a poker pro. She would make news in the mid-eighties when she took down a stud event for around $75,000. At the time, that was the most money won at one time by any female poker player. Violette would go from there to make a long and storied career for herself, including being one of only a handful of women to win a WSOP bracelet in an open event. She won the 2004 $2,000 Stud Hi-Lo Split event. Violette has won over $1.28 Million over her career in poker tournaments and is considered one of the best 7 Card Stud players in the world.

The induction ceremony will be the highlight of a series of events to be held at the Golden Nugget casino in Las Vegas, NV. The induction ceremony is June 5th at 6 p.m..
