Poker After Dark will kick off its Fifth Season December 29th with “Close But No Cigar” week. This lineup will feature WSOP final table participants who came short of winning the whole enchilada. The players that will participate at this table include Andy Black, Allen Cunningham, Mike Matusow, Dewey Tomko, David Williams, and Lee Watkinson.

As is customary with Poker After Dark’s tournament format, the 6 players will put up $20,000 each in order to win a grand prize of $120,000 in a winner takes all format. Dewey Tomko and Mike Matusow both have the most WSOP final table experience with both appearing at two WSOP final tables. Tomko finished 2nd in both of his appearances in 1982 and 2001. Matusow finished 6th in 2001 and 9th in 2005.

Allen Cunningham has the most bracelets among those at the final table with six gold bracelets. Williams is probably one of the more recognized final table finishers, as he finished 2nd in 2004 to Greg Raymer. Williams won a Seven Card Stud bracelet in 2006. Lee Watkinson and Andy Black are probably two of the more obscure final table participants. Watkinson finished 8th in 2007 and Black finished 5th in 2005.

Tomko, Wakinson, and Black have never appeared on Poker After Dark. Mike Matusow is still looking to get his first victory on the show. Cunningham and Williams have both won events in the past and look to add to their total.

Look for either Cunningham or Matusow to come out on top or at least make it heads up in this game. Matusow has been playing really strong poker as of late and you can never count out a 6 time bracelet winner.

The action will kick off Monday and continue until a winner is determined on Friday’s episode. Saturday will be the “Director’s Cut” which will feature key hands and interviews with the players.
