40th Annual World Series of Poker Kicks Off Tomorrow
The 40th Annual World Series of Poker kicks off tomorrow at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. The first official bracelet event will occur on Wednesday when the Employees Event will go back to its traditional spot of kicking off the WSOP.
The first bracelet event will be on Thursday with the $40,000 40th Anniversary event. This is expected to be a small but strong field. The railbirds should be in force to watch this event.
The event that many have been looking forward too is the $1,000 Stimulus Event that is slated to kick off on Friday. Day 1 will be split up over Saturday and Sunday to allow for what is expected to be the largest live poker tournament outside of a Main Event. Some say that it has the potential to be the largest tournament in World Series of Poker history.
Many are wondering what affect that the state of the economy will have on the WSOP. Most, including WSOP Commissioner Jeffrey Pollack, expect to see some shrinkage in overall attendance, but not to the degree that some events across the country have seen.
The satellite action, cash games, and non-bracelet daily tournaments kick off tomorrow. The time is here and players are ready to shuffle up and deal and take their shot at one of this year’s bracelets.
