Men ‘The Master’ Nguyen was born in Vietnam in 1954 but moved with his family to the United States in 1978 where he began playing poker.  However it was not until 1990 that he decided to quit his full time job to concentrate on playing poker full time.

Living in Los Angeles meant that he could play the poker rooms there during the week and then at the weekends he would venture to Las Vegas to hit the big games.  His first game in Las Vegas was a Seven-card Stud game and he was instantly hooked but he did not stop there and not only is he a fantastic Seven-card Stud player but he is also one of the best No Limit players the world has ever seen.

Men Nguyen has an impressive World Series of Poker resume winning six bracelets during his career, the first being in a Seven-card Stud in 1992.  In 1995 he won bracelets in both Seven-card Stud Split and the Limit Hold’em.  He was back again to win another bracelet in 1996, this time it was Ohama 8 or Better.  He then had to wait until 2003 to get another WSOP bracelet but again he won two this year in Seven-card Stud and Ace to Five Triple Draw.  Not only has he won six bracelets but he has also been at the final table at the WSOP 36 times and finished second in five of these.  And when it comes to WSOP career cashes he is second of the list with 65.

In 1997, Men was named Player of the Year and has amassed an impressive $4 million in his tournament career.  Not content with being a great player himself, Men has taken it upon himself to tutor others in the game of poker.  In fact it was one of his students who bestowed the nickname ‘The Master’ on him.

Men ‘The Master’ Nguyen now lives in California and is still touring the tournament circuit.
