Berry Johnston
Berry Johnston was born in 1935 in Oklahoma and is one of the more famous professional poker players. He began playing poker in 1970 and when he discovered his flair for the game he decided to take the plunge and move to Las Vegas. It was during the early 1980’s that Johnston began making a name for himself in the world of Poker.

In 1982 Johnston finished third in the World Series of Poker Main Event. He has five World Series of Poker bracelets, the first of which he won in 1983 in the $2500 Match Play event. In 1986 he won the main event at the World Series of Poker taking home a bracelet for the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em World Championship along with $570,000 in prize money. He won his third WSOP bracelet in 1990 in the $2500 Limit Hold’em event. His fourth and fifth bracelets were won in 1995 ($1500 Limit Omaha) and 2001($1500 Razz).
Johnston’s five WSOP bracelets see him currently lying in 16th place on the all time WSOP bracelet list. He has made more than 30 final tables at the WSOP and at the moment holds the record for the most WSOP Main Event cashes. His 57 WSOP cashes see him in 5th position on the all time WSOP cashes list and he has WSOP winnings of over $2 million. His total tournament winnings total almost three and a half million dollars.
Johnston is considered to be one of the gentlemen of poker both at the table and away from it. He has achieved quite a lot during his poker career so far and in 2004 was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. Berry Johnston can still be seen competing in the major poker tournaments today.
