John Juanda was born in 1971 in Indonesia and first arrived in the United States in 1990 when he began attending Oklahoma State University.  In school Juanda was one of the stars of the track in sprints and long distance running.  Juanda did not start playing poker until 1996 but he soon began to make a name for himself among the tournament circuit.

Juanda has won four World Series of Poker bracelets.  The first bracelet won by Juanda was in 2002 in the $1500 Triple Draw Lowball Ace to Five.  In 2003 he picked up two WSOP bracelets in the $2500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo Split and the $2500 Pot Limit Omaha.  In 2008 Juanda picked up his fourth bracelet by winning the European $10,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event.  His four bracelets see him just inside the top 20 all time WSOP bracelet winners at number twenty.

John Juanda’s tournament winnings so far are estimated to be over $10 million and this puts him tenth on the list of all time money winners.  He has cashed 51 times at the World Series of Poker and these cashes have netted him WSOP winnings of almost $4 million.  He is currently lying in tenth position of the all time World Series of Poker cashes.

Juanda has been named Cardplayer Magazine’s Player of the Year in 2001 and 2002.  He has finished in six of the final tables at the World Poker Tour but has never won the event.  He is considered by many of his fellow poker players to be one of the calmest and collected players on the tournament scene.

He currently resides in Los Angeles and can quite often be found playing poker online at Full Tilt Poker.
