Huckleberry (Huck) Seed was born in California in 1969.  He was a keen basketball player and attended the California Institute of Technology where he studied electrical engineering.  In 1989 Seed took a leave of absence from college and it was during this leave of absence that he began playing poker.  Once he was hooked on the game there was no going back to college.

Seed first entered the World Series of Poker tournament in 1990 and he was fourth in both Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo and Limit Hold’em events.  He carried on year after year playing well and in 1994 he won his first WSOP bracelet in the $2500 Pot Limit Omaha event.  He was left disappointed the following year when he only managed a 265th place in the WSOP Main Event.  However the following year he came back fighting and won his second bracelet in the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em World Championship Main Event.  In 2003 he picked up his third WSOP bracelet in the $1500 Razz event and his fourth bracelet was won in the $5000 Razz event in 2003.

Seed has won almost five and a half million dollars in all tournaments so far.  He has cashed 38 times at the World Series of Poker which puts him in 27th position on the all time leader board of WSOP cashes.  These 38 cashes have netted him WSOP winnings of almost $3 million.

As well as being a famous poker player, Seed has become well known for taking part in crazy proposition bets.  Many of these bets have been against his fellow professional poker players and probably the most famous of all was the one where he lost $50,000 by placing a bet against Phil Hellmuth.  In this bet he was meant to stand in the sea for eighteen hours with the water just over his shoulders.  It is said that he only managed to stay in the water for three hours but Seed has actually denied that this bet was ever carried out.  Although he is said to have lost this bet, he has won quite a few including a six figure sum for breaking 100 on a golf course in a desert four times in one day using only a sand wedge, five iron and a putter.
