David Chiu was born in 1960 in China but he was raised in America when his family moved there. He now lives in California. When David was a child he was involved in a swimming accident which resulted in him partially losing the hearing in both ears. But rather than this being a hindrance, he has actually claimed that it has helped his game. He says he has to concentrate much more on reading people because of this, so this has helped him to become a better poker player. He is considered by many to be one of the best players of Limit Hold’em in the world.

David Chiu has four World Series of Poker bracelets under his belt. His first bracelet was won in 1996 in the $2000 Limit Hold’em. In 1998 he won his second WSOP bracelet, again in a Limit Hold’em event. His other two WSOP bracelets were won in 2000 (Seven Card Stud) and in 2005 (Omaha Hi/Lo). His four bracelet wins see him currently lying in 22nd position on the all time WSOP bracelet winners list.

David Chiu is also 22nd on the list of all time World Series of Poker cashes with 41 to his name. Three of these cashes came in Main Events. And of his almost $6 million in tournament winnings, he has taken over two and a half million dollars from WSOP events.

Not only does Chiu have a glittering WSOP career but he has also won the World Poker Tour’s WPT World Championship in 2008 and he was the very first winner of the Tournament of Champions of Poker.

David Chiu continues to work to improve his game and can be found playing online poker at Full Tilt Poker.
