Jimmy (Fiore) Casella was one of the major poker players of the 1970s. He was born in 1924 and hailed from Las Vegas, Nevada. Every cash at a tournament poker event that Jimmy Casella had, was at the World Series of Poker.

He first cashed at the WSOP in 1971 and not only did he cash here but he also picked up his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet for the Limit Razz event. His first place finish in this event not only saw him pick up a gold bracelet but he also netted $10,000 in prize money.

In 1973 Casella finished in the top ten of the $10,000 No Limit Hold’em World Championship Main Event. However he did not pick up any prize money for this finish. He won his second bracelet in 1974 when he finished in first position in the $1000 Razz event for which he also earned $25,000. His third bracelet was also won in 1974 in the $10,000 Limit Seven Card Stud event. Prize money for this event was $41,225.

His total tournament winnings came from his three cashes at the World Series of Poker and this totaled $76,225. There is little doubt that Casella was on the way to more cashes and more wins but his death in 1976 left the poker world with a big hole in it. However, he will be well remembered for making his mark at the World Series of Poker and his three gold bracelets at this tournament will see his name forever in the history books.
