Farzad Bonyadi

Farzad Bonyadi is a professional poker player who was born in Tehran, Iran. He left Iran to move to Austria and he attended college there, studying agriculture. In 1983 he left Austria to move to the United States and one of his first jobs was a proposition player in a casino near Los Angeles. It was while working here that he honed his skill in the game of poker. He was then promoted to executive host in a Los Angeles casino and it was here that he had the opportunity to play with some of the big names in poker.

It was not until 1997 that Bonyadi made his first visit to the World Series of Poker and just one year later he managed to pick up a gold bracelet in the $2000 Limit Hold’em event for which he also bagged prize money of $429,940. He won another two World Series of Poker bracelets during his career. His second bracelet was won in the $1000 Deuce to Seven Triple Draw and he picked up prize money of 486,980. In 2005 he won his third bracelet in the $2500 No Limit Hold’em event and along with that $594,960 in prize money.

To date, Bonyadi’s total tournament earnings is estimated to be over two and a half million dollars and of this he has cashed sixteen times at the World Series of Poker winning over one and a half million dollars.

Although Bonyadi is one of the big names of poker he now prefers to play most of his poker online so that he can spend time with his family in their home in California. He is a member of the Full Tilt Poker Professional Team.
