Barbara Enright started playing poker at a very young age and was a natural for the game.  Throughout her childhood she never lost the love for the game and in 1976 she played in a poker room for the very first time.  When she saw that she was earning more from playing poker than she was from the jobs she had had, she decided to try out poker full time.  As well as being a professional poker player, Enright also works as a motivational speaker and is the Editor in Chief of a poker magazine (Woman Poker Player).

Enright is one of the more famous female poker players there is and still holds the record of being the only woman who has ever made it to the Main Event final table at the World Series of Poker tournament.  This was in 1995 and she actually finished fifth overall.  She holds many World Series of Poker records including the first woman to have won two bracelets and the first woman to have won three.  She was also the first woman to have won a WSOP open event.

As mentioned Barbara Enright currently holds three World Series of Poker bracelets which she won in 1986 (Women’s Seven Card Stud), 1994 (Women’s Seven Card Stud) and 1996 (Pot Limit Hold’em).  Her tournament earnings are almost one and a half million so far and her 13 WSOP cashes account for almost $400,000.

Another record held by Barbara Enright is that she is the first woman to have been inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame.  She was inducted in 2007 at the same time as Phil Hellmuth.

Barbara currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband Max Shapiro who is an author and fellow poker player.
