Mister Cool, or ‘Sammy’ Farha was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1959, and he’s extremely popular within the world of professional poker. He currently resides in Houston, Texas, and he’s the proud owner of no less than three WSOP bracelets. He moved to the U.S.A. following the outbreak of war in his home country when he was still a teenager. Once he settled in Wichita, Kansas, during 1977 he attended university there. His degree was in business administration and with it he relocated to Houston with a view to working with his brother who was already settled there. He soon found the game of poker irresistible, and after just a year he won his first big game to net many thousands of dollar. In the 1990’s he quit work to pursue poker full time and it’s safe to say that he’s never looked back.

Farha’s first bracelet success came back in 1996 when he won the $2.5K Pot Limit Omaha w/Rebuys to the tune of $145K. His next bracelet didn’t come until 10 years later when he succeeded in winning the $5K Omaha Hi-Lo (8 or better) event for $398,560. His most recent bracelet came after winning the $10K Omaha Split Hi-Low Split 8 or Better Championship this year, after which he took home $488,241. Most players with one or two bracelets are exceedingly proud of their achievements. With three under his belt, Farha must really feel that he’s reached the dizzy heights of the game.

On top of being a truly world-class poker player, Farha is in the process of writing a book with the working title ‘Luck is Not Enough’. There’s a video game in the pipeline and even a reality television poker series. He’s also the spokesperson for Harrah’s Casino in Las Vegas. This is a player with an immense reputation and the skills to match it.
