With his broad smile, Rafi Amit is one of the genuine stars of modern poker. Born and raised in Holon, Israel, he’s made a name for himself as one of the only world-class Israeli players on the circuit. His style of play and his presence around the final tables has led many to ask just who this player with attitude is. He’s known to enjoy his iPod and to crack the occasional joke around the table. What’s no joke is the seriousness with which he plays the game, and he’s known as a rising star with a glittering career to date and many achievements ahead of him.

Rafi Amit won his first bracelet back in 2005 at the $10K Pot Limit Omaha event. As well as winning the bracelet for that game he went home with a cool $511,835 in prize money. His second illustrious bracelet came as his reward for emerging triumphant at the $1K Deuce to Seven Triple Draw Lowball w/rebuys, when he took home just over $227Million. With two bracelets to his name Amit has little left to prove, but he’s sure to keep on playing and there seems no end to the heights professional poker could take him to. To date he’s had 8 cashes and won almost $1Million in competition, and much more from online playing.

When playing online, Amit uses the name ‘Howsitfeellike’ and he’s made a great career from winning. He’s been referred to as part of a new ‘rock star’ generation of poker players after spats around the table and accusations of insults and swearing – most notably with regard to competitor Vinny Vinh. He rejects this image of himself, however, although he will admit that poker would not have been his family’s first choice of career for him. In fact, he likens poker to dealing drugs when it comes to its image back home. Those who like players with personality will hope his run of success continues.
