Jesper Hougaard
Jesper ‘Kipster’ Hougaard is a professional poker player of just 25 years of age from Copenhagen in Denmark. He’s already won two WSOP bracelets after becoming the first to win in both Las Vegas and London. He’s the co-founder of the Danish section of the international poker community at Donkr.com. Prior to taking up professional poker he was an esteemed member of the Danish National Table Tennis Team. His winnings to date exceed $1Million, and his 8 cash victories account for almost half of that.
It must be great to be so young and to already have two WSOP bracelets under a career belt. Hougaard won his first bracelet in 2008 when he emerged victorious in the $1.5K No Limit Hold’Em competition, to take home $610,304. His second bracelet win was also in 2008 but this time on the other side of the Atlantic, at the WSOPE in London. There he won at £1.5K No Limit Hold’Em to the tune of £144,218 as well as the desirable jewelry. He’s rightly proud of being the first player to win bracelets on both sides of the Atlantic, and if things keep going his way he’s sure to add more strings to his bow soon.
Jesper ‘Kipster’ Hougaard continues to live in Copenhagen despite the many trips poker requires him to make, both Stateside and to other parts of Europe. As a young player he stands out as being cool around the table, often wearing headphones and usually sporting casual fashions. It’s safe to say that he’s a role model for other young players in Denmark and elsewhere, showing them that with talent and dedication no competition’s out of bounds. Whatever the future hold, nothing can detract from Hougaard’s significant achievement in being the first to win prized WSOP bracelets both in Las Vegas and in London.
