Frankie O’Dell
Two-time WSOP bracelet winner Frankie O’Dell is considered by those in the know to be one of the most talented yet least celebrated players around. After years spent developing his skills under the observation and instruction of Mike ‘the Mouth’ Matusow, he won his first precious WSOP bracelet in 2003, along with $45K at the World Poker Open $1K Omaha High/Low tournament. He dedicated his win to his late father, who had passed away in 2000, in what was a very touching tribute.

Frankie won his second bracelet playing the same game of Omaha High/Low that he loves, this time at $2K. This second gold bracelet win came in 2007. Today, and with these achievements under his belt, Frankie is known as one of the foremost players of this style of poker – one that he has really made his own. While others pursued the popular game of Hold’Em, Frankie has stayed true to his love for Omaha, believing it to be the best kind of poker to play. Having asserted that Frankie doesn’t care for Hold’Em poker, it has to be said that he’s extremely good at it. He’s also an excellent player of Stud, and lately he’s been combining these three disciplines to excel in mixed poker contests.
From having a reputation as something of a maverick when it comes to manners around the table, Frankie’s become one of the most mild mannered people in the game, with a reputation for being approachable and generous of spirit, and having a big heart. His Irish surname comes from his father’s adoptive parents, and his interest in poker dates back to when he began watching games at the age of 11.
Legend has it that the famous player Johnny Mossplay winked at the young O’Dell during a game he was watching as a child, and that from that moment on he was enamored by the game. With a reputation as one of the nicest men in poker, it’s expected that Frankie will continue to win high stakes games and open the high-class restaurant he plans for Vegas.
