Eric “E-Fro” Froehlich
Eric Froehlich is an unassuming poker player. He actively plays down his own skills while singing the praises of those he admires around him. He speaks of himself as an ordinary guy with a family to support, and since he claims to celebrate his wins by going to bed, he’s far removed from any rock and roll aspects of the game. He’s been called the most modest player in the game, someone who shuns the spotlight and acknowledges when the field of players is too strong to warrant a buy-in. Having asserted that he’s not got the biggest ego around the table, he certainly has skills that would back one up. This young man has won two WSOP bracelets and he’s consistently good when it comes to taking home the prize and the money.
Froehlich won his first bracelet back in 2005, and he held the record for being the youngest player to do so for just a short time before being bettered by Jeff Madsen in 2006, who was himself later replaced by Steve Ballirikis in 2007. He won his first bracelet in the £1.5K Limit Hold’Em event, to take home $303,908. His second bracelet win was in 2006, when he succeeded in winning the Pot Limit Omaha w/Rebuys for $299,675. His remains a very significant achievement for such a young man, and one on which he’s bound to expend given his level of skill.
Froehlich’s tournament winnings to date exceed $1.3Million, and his victories at the WSOP make up $867,783 of those. But he says that the money hasn’t changed his life too much. He reckons that it’s helped to pay off mortgages and to put his brother through college, but reasons that his way of life isn’t altered much due to his reluctance to take the spotlight. This mild mannered, gentle player surely has a ruthless player as his alter ego, as any opponent will testify.
