Dan Harrington
Dan Harrington was born in Massachusetts in 1945 and not only is he a professional poker player but he is also a former U.S. champion of backgammon, a U.S. chess master and a lawyer. As well as playing professional poker, Harrington also works on the stock market and in real estate and he owns his own successful company called Anchor loans. He is distantly related to the NFL quarterback Joey Harrington and to the professional golfer Padraig Harrington.

Although Harrington is a professional poker player, he does not play full time as he has so many other business interests and he has actually stated that his main reason for playing poker is to make money and not to achieve glory or fame. He normally only plays in a few tournaments every year and these are usually in the World Series of Poker where he has already won two bracelets, and sometimes in the World Poker Tour events.
The first WSOP cash that Harrington ever made was in 1986 and the following year he actually made it to the final table of the WSOP Main Event. He eventually finished in sixth place that year. His two WSOP bracelets were both won in 1995; he won the $2500 No Limit Hold’em event and was also the winner of the $10000 No Limit Hold’em World Championship Main Event. He has also finished at the final table of the Main Event another two times – he finished in 3rd position in 2003 and in 4th position in 2004.
Harrington has cashed in eleven World Series of Poker events and this has earned him over three and a half million dollars. His total tournament winnings amount to just over six-and-a-half million dollars.
