Burt Boutin
Born is Henderson, Nevada, Burt Boutin is a great card player with a lot of personality. His success and his resultant reputation are undeniable, as is the cache that comes with winning two WSOP bracelets. He might have a reputation for excessive energy around the table, but no one could deny that he’s earned his reputation as one of the greats of the modern game.
Born in Pennsylvania, Henderson is one of the few players to have found he has a natural gift for making money from the game of poker. He now lives in Las Vegas, the home of gaming, and he’s become a true legend around the table. A former stockbroker, he realized that he could earn more money playing cards than dealing in stocks and shares, and dutifully turned his attention to the big tournaments and the big money tables.
Boutin won his first bracelet back in 2001, when he emerged to reign supreme in the WSOP $2K Pot Limit Hold’Em to win $193,800. His second precious piece of jewelry came in 2007 when he won the $5K Pot Limit Omaha w/Rebuys for an immense sum of $825,956. To date Boutin’s live tournament winnings amount to over $2.2Million, and his victories around WSOP tables account for $1,308,253 of that.
Boutin has a reputation for being an emotional player -somewhat unusual in a game such as poker where players work hard to mask their true feelings about each hand. He’s been known to get up and walk around during a game, and to have the occasional outburst. None of his idiosyncrasies seem to be to his detriment, however, and he continues to go from strength to strength around the top tables at the highest competitive level. Boutin has three children and if he continues his run of success then he’ll soon have three bracelets as well.
