Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker is a professional poker player who was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1975. He currently lives in Nashvill, Tennessee with his wife Christina and his daughter Ashley. Moneymaker attended school in Tennessee and studied accounting in the University of Tennessee where he earned a degree. Once he had finished at the University of Tennessee with degree in hand, Moneymaker began work as a comptroller.

He was playing poker online and in 2003 he won a seat at the World Series of Poker Main Event through PokerStars online poker room. This $39 satellite tournament went on to turn Moneymaker into a poker star as not only did he win his seat at the Main Event but he actually went on to win the entire event. After his phenomenal win here, he became a spokesman for the online site where he won his seat – PokerStars.
Naturally with such a huge poker win behind him, Moneymaker decided to quit the day job and concentrate on playing poker full time. He has won over $3 million in tournament prize money so far and his four WSOP cashes have seen him pick up winnings in these tournaments of over two and a half million dollars.
He has also been doing really well in other tournaments and actually finished second in the Shooting Stars event at the 2004 World Poker Tour. He continues to do well in his online poker endeavors having a number of top ten finishes in the World Championship of Online Poker.
Moneymaker has been attributed with changing the game of poker with his Main Event win at the World Series of Poker. He showed that just about anyone can win big amounts of money playing poker with the big boys. The number of people taking up the game increased as a result of his historic win.
