Value of your hand and protecting these hands are these are two of the most important parts of poker. Having proper of your value your hand will allow you to make the proper decisions.
Flushes and straits are the majority of high level hands. Many people to get caught up when trying to chase these hands and hurt themselves.
People get often to aggressive or two weak when getting a high pair. If you are in front you need to try and take advantage. When you are looking to take advantage of a situation you need to be high enough to scare people off. If you are looking to make a hand you need to look at the odds of getting the hand that you are looking for.
You need to look at implied odds. What these odds are that if you hit your hand then people will be paying you out. You do not want to wait for the hand if that hand won’t probably win.
If you have had the hand until the final card this is why you are kicking yourself for not betting people out earlier. Often time’s players can stick around with making calls and looking at the implied odds to make sure they don’t give away a winner. The best way is to look at your outs you have left.
All of this comes down to playing your hands correctly. If you are off in front often times it is advantageous to bet high and get the weaker players away. If you have a chance just hanging in often times will allow you to win a bigger hand then you thought you could.
To do any of this you need to understand the value of your hand and any other possible hands out there.
