The Flop in Texash Holdem
Once you see the flop you need to understand what is going on. You need to show who is showing strength or weakness. If you have the best cards you need to bet to push out all the weak players. Here we know have five of the seven cards we are going to see at this hand.
You need to have a strong hand or a drawing hand here or you need to fold. Any other move will just be throwing away money.
You want to be able to get information on off the flop. Often times if you are in late position you will be able to make a bet for information. You can here see how players will react if nobody has made a raise up until this time. The proper amount for this bet is about 30-40% of the pot. You will notice that people who are drawing will call instantly, weaker hands will usually fold and stronger hands will re-raise. This allows you to assess if it is worth staying in yourself. You need to be ready to walk away from this bet.
There are a couple variations to this model. First aggressive players will at times raise a drawing hand. They do this because they think that this will get them to the river with no more bets. New players often will call anything so be prepared for that. Tight players are just going to call even if they have the nuts. Also the best players will take advantageous of this by slow playing. So be very careful of good players when they just call this bet.
Also if you have the best hand out there bet it. At this time it is better to knock out hands that could take you out in the long run.
