Proper Table Etiquette
There are certain elements of etiquette that make the game of poker an enjoyable game. You need to make sure to behave by these and if we do break these we need to apologize. If someone else breaks the rules you should feel comfortable bringing in table manger.
First you do not talk about a hand in progress. Even if you are not playing in the hand you should keep your opinion to yourself and that includes body language. Next you need to act in turn even if you are throwing your cards out. When you don’t you can affect the player’s decision in front of you.
Don’t slow roll. This is where you pretend to be losing when you actually have won. This happens when people want to rub in the fact that they have one. Most players consider this to be the rudest thing on a poker table. This also has started many fights over the years in poker halls.
When you have the winning hand show them quickly and take your money graciously. Also you don’t want to disrupt the game. This can happen when you are drunk or taking up too much of the conversation. Also screaming is always a bad idea. If you are holding up the game by not paying attention you also are disrupting the game.
Never abuse the dealer. It is not the dealer’s fault that you are getting bad cards. You need to treat them with respect as they are only doing their job.
The final rule is that you need to leave what happened at the poker table there. Poker is like any game and you need to take a deep breath and relax and evaluate what happened.
Following these rules will make the game much more enjoyable for you and everyone around.
