Playing Late Position

In Hold’em position is very important. The best spot to be in is always on the button. You can tell a lot of how people play when they are in position.

You are able to play a lot of different cards when playing in late position. You often times you can get into hand cheaply and it gives you an advantage. Also you can bet hands at the end and scare many people off if they were hesitant from the start. This can allow you to build up a bank roll by stealing blinds.

One of the main reasons that you are at an advantage is that you don’t have to throw away any options that you have. Players many times will decide to stay in because for the amount of money that they are required to enter they can get themselves into a larger pot.

Playing in late position will give you plenty of options to read people also. Since you know that you are going to be able to see how everyone else bets in. Now you can put yourself in an advantage.

This doesn’t mean though that you need to go in with every hand. A proper player will still understand the strengths and weaknesses of his own hand. The fact that you are the last position just gives you more time to evaluate the complete position.

The greatest part of winning a hand from the late position is when you can have that big blind special. So go out there and play smart but play to win.
