Choosing a Game
To get on the tour you can start by playing low budget satellites. When you win these satellites you can build up to bigger satellites to then get to larger tournaments. If you win at these satellites you will be able to get accommodations along with your buy in at many tournaments including the World Series of Poker.
Next up in this lesson is choosing the right table for you. Sometimes you might want to sit down at a table when you are not the best player. The reason for this is so you can learn by watching more advanced players but make sure you have an understanding that you are not the best there. This means to watch your bank roll.
Mostly you want to play where you are one of the better players on the table. The reason for this is that there is value on the table. This obviously allows you to win money. There is an old adage if you can see the sucker on the table then it is you.
You need to be able to recognize your limits at a table. This will allow you to be more profitable. You need to understand when it is time to move up or move down from a table.
Here a couple more guidelines to look at when were choosing a game. First you don’t want to sit at table that is too tight the looser the players you have a better chance to trap people. Secondly you don’t want to buy in for more than 10% of your bank roll. This way you won’t get in over your head.
Remember choosing the right table can make you a good amount of money and choosing the wrong table can cost you a lot of money. Make sure to be smart.
