Being Selective in Holdem
Now we are starting off with the danger cards. These cards include A 10, K J, Q 10, Q J, K 10 and J 10. These cards are very difficult to play and often times if new players over value their hands. When you receive these cards you need to be cheap until the flop. You must be prepared to throw these cards away. The facts are that these hands can produce a monster but also you can be left out in the wind.
Drawing hands are considered to be 10 9, 9 8, 8 7, 7 6, 6 5, 5 4, 10 8, 9 7, 8 6, 7 5, and 6 4. The great thing about these hands is that you know there strength right after the flop. These hands are best to play suited when this happens they are called suited connectors. These are not cards that you want to play without experience though. Make sure not to call into big raises with these cards.
All of the rest of cards are just considered rubbish cards. First you need not to fall in love with suited cards. Often time’s people get stuck with having one large card and a small card. These hands should be considered to be thrown away.
What this all comes down to is that you need to be selective. Many new players seem to play to many cards to feel part of the action. Most good players will fold more than you could ever believe.
All of this will become natural over time understanding what good cards are and when to play them. Taking the time to learn this process will allow you to be a stronger player.
