Basics of Texas Hold’em
This is the beginning of the series on how to learn to play Texas Hold’em. They start from the very beginning to show you step by step how to play.
The pros talk about how you need to go out and start playing the game. Learning the basics is great but once you are ready the only true way to understand the game is to play. They also talk about how playing new players can be difficult since they are harder to read. Hey at least we get one advantage when you don’t know what’s going on. They are all a bit scared of the new player that is going to take their spot at the final table.
Poker was started off in the Wild West but of course those days are long gone. You will notice that everyone plays Texas Hold’em. The variety of players with Texas Hold’em is what makes the games so great. You will notice that from the local school teacher to the biggest scientist and everyone in between there is poker players.
You will understand Texas Hold’em much easier if you have played other poker games. The most similar include draw, double draw and Omaha with hi/low split being common. If you have no knowledge you need to understand that poker is a five card game. In Texas Hold’em there will be seven cards to deal with but your hand will only be made up of five cards. The top five cards will be used in your hand to make your hand.
Also if you haven’t learned any type of poker it can be advantageous to learn various different games. The reason for this is that you can pick up tips and tricks that can work with a multitude of games.
