When is the Right Time Quitting on a Session?
Twice a week, I play 1-2 NL Holdem at a certain local card room. Typically, I play well in my games, leaving the room a winner roughly 3 out of 4 times I play. And usually, I buy in for $300.00, then leaving when I am either up $300 or the like.
On an average, I play 3-5 hours a session. My question is actually related to this. Do you think if I could stay longer than 5 hours, could I gain more, let’s say for example $600 or so? But I am also considering the risk of losing my sure winnings if in case.
Any idea on what am I supposed to do? When is the right time to quit a session, considering hope for winning more is still very prevalent in my thoughts?
Mr. Anonymous,
The saying goes, stay when the game is good, and get out when it is not. If after 5 hours, the game is good and you feel you can play at your best, then stay. You have a good chance to make more.
If the game is going bad or you are getting tired, or if you are worried about losing money, get out. It is better to come back when you are ready to fight than to stay around in less than peak conditioin.
