Online Texas Holdem Games vs Actual In Face Games

I enjoy playing poker online. For me, it’s a very useful means of improving myself. But of course I am not exactly sure if it’s the same thing to other players. I don’t know if others see it as something useful.

Is there any difference between the actual in face games and online games, particularly in terms of hand readings and strategy? I noticed a lot of unusual bad beats online that are not apparent in face games.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Christopher

Christopher,

Online games you will see more bad beats than in live games due to two factors. 1. There are more hands dealt online than in live poker, thus increasing the number of potential bad beats. 2. Online players as a whole are usually poorer players than live players. They will chase down inferior hands and will sometimes outdraw you more.

Next, the main difference in live and online is the fact that you will have to face your opponents. You will need to work on your ability to put players on hands based on their betting patterns, personality, and in some cases physical tells.

The same strategy that one uses online and in live games can be similar. You may have to adjust it depending on the tightness of the table etc.
