There are basically three kinds of Texas Holdem – Limit, No Limit, and Pot Limit Holdem. The difference lies on the restrictions or limits placed on bets and raises. It is with No Limit Texas Holdem that players can place bets or raise bets as high as they would want to. In a Limit Holdem poker, the players can raise only up to a certain limit. In a pot limit poker, the bets and raises of players are limited to the pot size.

The rules are the same on these three variants of Texas Holdem. The strategies, however, vary. In a no limit Holdem, the risks of losing money are huge, but the payoffs, if you win, are even bigger. It is not surprising, therefore, that novices and amateurs hesitate to play in a no limit poker. On the other hand, experienced players revel with no limits.

The Ultimate Mind Game

No limit Holdem is essentially a mind game. Winning the game does not depend on the kind of cards that you were dealt with but lies more on how good you are at outwitting your opponents. Your opponents are usually tight aggressive players. It is very common to find inexperienced players folding early in the game or trying to repeatedly bluff their way out of a tight position.

No Limit Texas Holdem Strategies – Win the Game

It is not easy to win a Texas Holdem. It is even more difficult to win a no limit Holdem. This is because you would usually be facing experienced players who would be employing all their skills and strategies to win the pot. You cannot afford to give them an edge. However, there are no exact rules that apply to a situation. You should play and use tactics which apply to a specific situation. Here are some strategies in winning a no limit Holdem game:

  1. Know when to control the pot. When you have great hands, it is important that you create a pot to go along with your hands. However, keep your pot small if you are not too confident about your cards. You should know how to handle your chips, split them, bet them, and ultimately control the game.
  2. Always think ahead of your opponent. This is the crucial key to winning the game. You should be able to carefully mislead your opponent. Have him think that you are going to this route when all the while you have deftly planned another route of winning.
