Betting Begins

Basically, a round of betting must take place, beginning with the player to the left of the two who posted the blinds. Players can raise, fold or call when it is their turn to eventually bet.

The Flop

As a general rule, after the first betting round, the dealer must discard the top card of the deck. This is called “burning the card” and is done to ensure that no one accidentally saw the top card, and to help prevent cheating; which is very common in most games.
Consequently, the dealer must then flip the next three cards face up on the table. These cards will be called the “flop.”

After the flop, another round of betting must take place, starting with the player to the left of the dealer. During this and in the future rounds of betting, players can call, check, fold or raise when it’s already their turn to bet.

Final Betting and the Winner

Basically, the fourth and final round of betting must begin with the player to the left of the dealer.

Players can only use any combination from seven cards (the five community cards and the two hole cards) to form the greatest possible five-card Poker hand.

Right after the final betting round, all players who remain in the game must reveal their hands. The player who made the initial bet or the player who made the last raise must show their hand first.

The Shuffle, Deals and Blinds

In general, the dealer must be the one to shuffle the standard 52-deck card.

Texas Holdem Poker games should start with the two players to the left of the dealer putting a pre-set amount of money into the pot before any cards are dealt, making sure that there is actually something to play for on every hand more or less.

Each player should be dealt with two cards, face down (or simply known as “hole cards”).
