WSOP Main Event Final Table Heads-Up Recap #1 – Moon Makes Comeback to Pull Stacks Even
Heads-up at the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event kicked off Monday night at 10 P.M. PST. Nolan Dalla opened the ceremonies hyping up the crowd. The announcers doing the live audio broadcast commented that Dalla seemed more pumped up than they have ever seen him. He then announced the two players and their relative chip counts. Vince Neil of Motley Crue came on to announce “Shuffle Up and Deal” and play begun. This is how the two players stacked up:
Joe Cada 135,950,000
Darvin Moon 58,850,000
Darvin Moon drew first blood on the very first hand. Cada raised to 3.5 Million and Moon made the call. On a flop of Ks-3s-2d, Cada bet out 3.5 Million and Moon then raised to 10 Million straight. After some contemplation, Cada made the call. The turn fell the Ad and Cada checked to Moon, who bet out 10 Million. Cada made the call and the river fell the Kc. Action was checked around and Moon flipped over pocket queens. Cada had only pocket nines and Moon took down a massive pot to pull nearly within even.
Joe Cada 112,300,000
Darvin Moon 82,500,000
Moon pulled closer to even after another decent hand. Cada raised to 2.5 Million pre-flop and Moon called. The flop fell 8s-6c-4h and action was checked around. The turn fell the Ac and Cada bet 3.5 Million. Moon then raised to 7.5 Million and Cada made the call. The river fell the 3h and Cada folded after a 7.5 Million bet from Moon. After the hand:
Joe Cada 101,650,000
Darvin Moon 93,150,000
A few hands later, Cada flopped the nut flush, but was not able to extract a lot of chips from Moon. After the hand, Cada moved back up to 111 Million and Moon slipped to 83 Million.
The “Suckout Express” started its rounds again and Moon took the chip lead after sucking out against Cada. Cada raised to 2.5 Million pre-flop and Moon made the call. On a flop of 6s-5d-Jc and Moon check-raised to 8.5 Million after a 3.5 Million bet from Cada. The turn fell the Qd and action is checked around. The river fell the 2h and Moon bet 7.25 Million. Cada made the call and Moon showed Qh-8s for a pair of queens. One interesting point by Phil Hellmuth in the broadcast is that Moon announced raise on this hand on the flop. When he had pocket queens earlier, Moon did not announce raise. Was that a tell? Time will tell? After the hand, Moon moved up to over 101 Million and the chip lead. Cada slipped to 92.95 Million.
Cada retook the chip lead after a huge pot. Moon raised to 3 Million pre-flop and Cada called. The flop fell Jc-4h-2d and Moon bet 4 Million after a check from Cada. Cada made the call. The turn fell the Qh and Cada checked to Moon. Moon bet 6 Million and then Cada check-raised to 16.75 Million. Moon made the call and the river fell the 5c. Cada then led out for 35 Million. Moon leaned back in his chair and let out a big blow. He tanked for nearly five minutes before finally laying down his hand. After the hand, Cada retook the chip lead.
Joe Cada 120,600,000
Darvin Moon 72,200,000
Moon slipped down to 60 Million before a decent pot between the two. Cada raised to 1 Million pre-flop and Moon raised to 8 Million. On a flop of Kc-7s-6h, Moon bet 5 Million and Cada insta-called. The river fell the 3s and Moon insta-shipped his chips. Cada then insta-mucks. Moon moved up to 82 Million and Cada slipped to 112 Million
The two pulled almost even of each other after a bit of a pre-flop raising war. Moon raised the button to 3 Million and Cada re-raised to 10.2 Million. Moon then three-bet 28 Million. Cada went into the tank for a while before finally laying the hand down. At this point Cada had a small lead. The very next hand, Cada raised pre-flop and Moon re-raised to 8 Million. Cada quickly got out of the way and Moon retook the chip lead. That lead was short lived as Cada took a pot off of Moon after flopping middle pair.
Joe Cada 103,200,000
Darvin Moon 91,600,000
