The 2007 World Series of Poker was the 38th year. It was held at the beginning of June and had 55 tournament events, which was an increase of 9 over last year’s 46. Of course, this means that more gold and diamond bracelets were handed out to more champions. The prize pool money payouts were also redistributed in all events. This event was sponsored by PartyPoker.net and was truly exciting because of the bills that President Bush was processing at that time.

The World Series Of Poker Lineup

Some new events were added to the World Series of Poker lineup this year. One such event was called SHOE. Herein Stud, Hold’em, Omaha and Stud 8 were all combined and played as limit games. This event maintained the 4 game spread structure through the final table.

Another new event was HORSE, which had a lower buyin. Herein Hold’em (both Limit and No-Limit), Omaha, Razz, Stud and Stud Eight or Better were combined.

Sponsors Of The World Series Of Poker Tour

As was aforementioned, PartyPoker.net was the official sponsor of the World Series of Poker this year. In the past there was to not be any connection to online poker or online gambling, meaning that online poker rooms were not even allowed to register their World Series of Poker Main Event satellite winners into any of their tournaments including the Main Event. However, since PartyPoker.net does not have any online wagering on it and is only a purely fun poker room, it has been allowed to sponsor the event.

World Series Of Poker Champions’ Bracelets

The bracelets that were given out to event champions this year are the most elegant and expensive in the history of this event. Fifty-three of these bracelets are studded with 53 diamonds each. Then there is the bracelet for the Main Event winner which features 136 grams of 18-carat white gold set with 120 diamonds.

Holding 2 Tournaments Per Day

Two tournament events were held each day this year. This has caused record numbers of people to sign up for events like No-Limit Hold’em. It also caused pre-registered players to have to wait for hours before being seated. All of this led up to lots of chaos and unhappy players in the end.

Conclusion

The World Series of Poker is the largest poker tournament in the world. Herein there were more records set, more big money won and more excitement from the RIO in Las Vegas, Nevada.
