The payout list was released shortly after the first break. 18 players will be paid in this event. 18th will be paid $7,042 going all the way up to top prize of $181,739 for the winner of this circuit event.

Johnny Chan lost a good amount of his stack by the beginning of level three. He was down to just 6,000 chips when play started up again after break. I wonder if the opponents remember what they had. One player that surely remembers is James Marks. On a flop of Qc-2c-3, Marks put Chan all-in for around 5,000. Chan made the call with Ac-10c while Marks held pocket threes for the set. The turn fell the 6c to give Chan his flush and to take the lead, but a six on the river gave Marks a full house and sent Chan to the rail.

Chan was not the only Main Event Champ to be eliminated already. Jerry Yang was all in on a flop of A-9-10 and was called by an opponent who had hit two pair on the flop. Yang was unable to catch lucky and was eliminated. With his elimination, only Chris Ferguson is left to represent former Main Event champions.

Max Pescatori had a relatively short day at the tables. Pescatori moved all-in pre-flop and was called by Clint Roberts. Pescatori held Ac-10h and Roberts held As-Kc. The flop fell Qc-Jc-7d to give both players a straight draw. The turn fell the 10c to give Roberts his straight, but now Pescatori could catch a club for a flush or a king to chop. The river fell a harmless Qd and Pescatori headed home.

Jeff Madsen didn’t fare much better. Madsen was all-in with pocket queens and was ahead against his opponent’s A-Q. Unfortunately for Madsen, his opponent spiked an ace on the flop and Madsen headed out the door.

108 players remain out of the 132 that started today’s play. Players will play through Level 6 and then go to dinner and then return for one more level of play. We will be back a little later to bring you updates from this event.
