2010 WSOP Event #4 – Final Table – Michael Chow Wins $1,500 Omaha 8 or Better Event

Day 3 of the Event #4 at the 2010 WSOP, $1,500 Omaha 8 or Better, kicked off Tuesday with 26 players looking to make the final table and ultimately win the bracelet. Sasha Rosewood entered the final table as the chip leader but several names were still in the field including Jeff Madsen, Dan Heimiller, Huck Seed, Ylon Schwartz, and David Bach.

Huck Seed hit the rail in 18th place, eliminated by Jeff Madsen. Jeff Madsen hit the rail in 12th place. With his last 30,000 in chips, he moved in Ah-3d-Ks-Qc and Michael Chow called with As-Ad-Kd-8h. Madsen caught two pair on the turn, but the river produced aces-up for Chow to send Madsen out short of the final table.

James McWhorter was the final table bubble boy. He was all-in on a flop of Ac-9d-6d and called by Fred Koubi. Koubi held 2c-2d-3d-Jc for a diamond draw and low draw. McWhorter held Ad-9s-5h-5c for top two pair. The turn hit the 10d to give Koubi a flush and river the 10c missed both to send McWhorter out in 10th.

Todd Barlow was the first player eliminated from the final table. He moved all in on a flop of 6-5-5 holding A-2-5-7 for trip fives. Dan Heimiller called with A-2-7-Q and was in danger of getting quartered. However, the turn and river both fell sixes and Dan Heimiller actually won the hand with trip sixes A-Q against trip sixes A-7. Todd Barlow received $17,780 for his finish.

Joe Liebman was crippled by Ylon Schwartz and then was all-in pre-flop in the big blind against both Michael Chow and Sasha Rosewood. By the river, Chow made a wheel and bet Rosewood out of the pot. Leibman then turned his cards over one by one. He turned his cards over one by one and couldn’t find anything to beat a wheel for half. Leibman finished in 8th and took home $22,798.

Michael Cipolla was all-in on the turn of A-K-2-K with just a draw and failed to hit. Michael Chow held A-J-J-7 for aces-up. Michael Cipolla finished in 6th for $38,747. Scott Epstein finished in 5th after flopping a straight and low. Michael Chow turned the nut flush and flopped a second nut low. Epstein received $51,431 for 5th.

Fred Koubi was down to just 100,000 in chips with the limits 50k and 100k. He was all-in pre-flop with Kh-Qh-Qs-5s against the Ks-7h-6h-4c of Dan Heimiller. Koubi flopped a set of queens, but Heimiller turned a straight to take the lead and ultimately the hand. Fred Koubi finished 4th and received $69,188.

Ylon Schartz was next out having just 100,000 chip and put them in a flop of 9d-Ad-3d with 2-3-5-9. Dan Heimiller held 2-3-9-K for the same two pair, but a turn king gave him a better two pair and after the 10h hit the river, the hand. Ylon Schartz finished in 3rd for $94,446.

Heads-up play started with Michael Chow holding a 2.17 Million to 1.42 Million chip lead over Dan Heimiller. Play went back and forth between the two players with both holding the chip lead at some point. The turning point came with both players about even and betting at 100k and 200k. Heimiller bet out the flop of 10c-9d-5c, the turn Qc, and river Kh. Chow called down all the way. Heimiller only held a pair of nines and Chow had rivered a king-high straight. After this, Heimiller had just 125,000 in chips and stuck them in with 10c-8s-7c-2h. Chow held Qh-9s-3h-2s. The board fell Ad-10s-5s-Jd-Kd and with a king-high straight, Michael Chow wins the $1,500 Omaha 8 or Better event. Dan Heimiller finishes runner up, taking home $146,505.

Michael Chow took home the bracelet for Event #4 and $237,140. It was a long day but he can now claim himself to be a WSOP Champion.
