2010 WSOP Event #20 Recap – Tex Barch Wins $1,500 PL Omaha Bracelet
Event #20 of the 2010 WSOP was the $1,500 PL Omaha Event. This event drew a strong crowd of 885 players looking to take down the first PLO event of this series. Day 1 saw the field shrink down to just 95 players with 81 players scheduled to make the money.

Tex Barch Wins First Bracelet
Day 2 saw the money bubble broken, and among those finishing in the money were Ryan Hughes, Robert Williamson III, Jason Potter, Jason Merceir, and Ted Lawson. Day 2 play actually managed to make the final table and the final table was headlined by Nenad Medic, Tex Barch, and Blair Rodman. Medic held a massive chip lead heading into final table play. Here is how the final nine players started the final table:

Seat 8: Denton Pfister 167,000
Seat 9: Klinghammer Thibaut 366,000
Tex Barch raised to 40,000 and Denton Pfister re-raised to 120,000. Barch made the call and both saw a flop of 6d-2h-As. Pfister moved all-in for 37,000 and was called. Pfister held Qs-Qc-10d-6h for queens while Barch held As-Ks-2c-8c for aces up. The turn Kc and river 4s failed to improve Pfister and he was out in 9th place. He received $19,259 for his finish.
Shortly after Pfeister’s elimination, Tyler Patterson was all-in against Blair Rodman. Patterson held Ac-Qh-10c-6h and Rodman Ah-As-8s-5d. The flop of 8-10-3 gave Patterson a pair of tens, but the turn Ad left him drawing dead and out in 8th place. He received $24,695 for his finish.
Blair Rodman raised to 26,000 pre-flop and was called by Klinghammer Thibaout. The flop fell 9s-6h-4s and Thibaut check-raised Rodman all-in. Rodman made the call with 9c-8c-7c-5d for a wrap draw and pair of nines. Thibaut held As-Jh-7s-6s for the nut flush draw and a pair of sevens. The turn fell the Ad to give Thibaut aces-up and the lead. The river then fell the Kc to send Blair Rodman out in 7th place, good for $32,007.
Chris Hyong later was set all-in pre-flop by Tex Barch. He held Ah-7h-9c-4s against the Ac-As-Ks-10c of Barch. A flop of 10-4-6 gave Chang a gutshot straight draw and a pair of fours. The turn and river both missed Chang and Barch’s aces were good enough to send Hyong out in 6th place, good for $41,971.
Ashkan Razavi was all-in pre-flop and called by both Nenad Medic and Klinghammer Thibaut. The board fell Ac-Js-10c-6s-Qc and was checked down by Medic and Klinghammer. At showdown, Medic showed Qd-9d-8s-7h, which was good for a straight. Thibaut and Razavi both held two pair. As a result, Razavi was out in 5th place, good for $55,711.
Nenad Medic raised to 140,000 pre-flop and Tex Barch potted to put Medic all-in. Medic made the call and showed Qh-10h-9s-4c and Barch Ac-6c-Qd-7d. The flop fell Ks-Js-Jh and Medic now held an open ended straight draw. The turn Kd failed to help either player. The river fell the Jd and Barch’s A-Q send Medic out in 4th place. He received $74,946 for his strong run.
The next hand, Trai Dang moved all-in on a flop of Qc-4s-Jc and was called by Tex Barch. Barch held Kd-Ks-Ac-3d for a pair and broadway draw. Dang held Kc-Qh-10s-7s for an open-ended draw and pair of queens. The turn and river both missed Dang, and he was out in 3rd place, good for $102,306.
Heads-up play between Tex Barch and Klinghammer Thibaut started extremely lopsided. Barch held 3.57 Million in chips to just 410,000 for Thibaut. Heads-up play lasted just one hand as Klinghammer Thibaut moved all-in at the turn with the board showing Ah-Jc-7s-10c. Barch made the call and showed Js-7s-8c-2d for two pair and gutshot draw. Thibaut held 10h-8h-7c-2s for a lower two pair and straight draw. The river fell the Qs and Tex Barch is our champion.
Tex Barch has finally won his first WSOP gold bracelet. In addition, he took home $256,919. Congratulations to Tex Barch, Event #20 Champion.
