Mark Burford was the first player eliminated from this final table. He was all-in pre-flop with A-K against the A-4 of Georgios Kapalas. He seemed primed for a double up, but a 2-5-Q flop gave him a sweat. A six on the turn missed both players, but the river fell a three to give Kapalas a straight and Burford was out in 9th. He received $14,149 for his strong finish.
Roberto Truijers was all-in pre-flop against both Ahmad Abghari and Jameson Painter. Both players checked down a board of 4-K-10-K-3 and at the river, Truijers showed A-Q and Abghari showed pocket sixes. Painter couldn’t beat sixes and Truijers headed out in 8th place, good for $18,385.
Jameson Painter soon followed. He was all-in on a flop of 9c-8h-Kc and Matt Matros made the call. Painter held A-Q and Matros held A-8 for a pair of eights. The turn fell the 3 and river a 5 to send Painter to the rail in 7th. He took home $24,198.
Jason Potter started Day 3 as chip leader, but ultimately went home in 6th place. He was all-in pre-flop with A-J against the pocket nines of Georgios Kapalas. The board ran out minus an ace or jack and Potter headed out to collect $32,281 for 6th.
Adrian Dresel-Velasquez got good value for the last of his chips. He raised pre-flop to put himself all in and Georgios Kapalas, Matt Matros, and Ahmad Abghari all made the call. The board fell 2-6-8-10-Q and all his opponents checked it down. At the river, Dresel-Velasquez showed 6-7 for a pair of sixes. Kapalas showed A-4 and Matros A-3, both for ace-high. Abghari showed K-Q for a pair of queens and Adrian Dresel-Velasquez was out in 5th. He took home $43,647 for 5th.
Georgios Kapalas was next out. He was all-in pre-flop with pocket tens against the A-J of Terrence Chan. The flop fell with a jack to put Chan ahead and the pair of jacks were good enough to send Kapalas out in 4th. He took home $59,838 for 4th place.
Terrence Chan was all-in at the turn with the board showing As-8d-10s-7d. Ahmad Abghari made the call and Chan held Qs-6s for both a straight and flush draw. Abghari held A-7 for two pair. The river fell a king and Chan was out in 3rd place. He took home $85,185 for his first place finish.
Heads-up play between Matt Matros and Ahmad Abghari began with Mattros holding a 1.95 to 850,000 chip lead. Play went back and forth between the two for a while, but in the end Mattros had Abghari down to about 350,000. With limits of 50k and 100k, Abghari had one big hand left in him. Abghari was all-in on the turn with the board showing Qs-4s-4d-3c. He held Ac-10c for ace-high against the Q-8 of Matros for two pair. The river fell the 8s and Matros’ improved two pair were enough for the bracelet. Ahmad Abghari finished in 2nd place and took home $117,272.
Matt Matros took home the $1,500 Limit Holdem bracelet and $189,870. Congratulations to Matt Matros, $1,500 Limit Holdem Champion.
