WSOP Changes I Would Like Implemented

Jack Effel has been stating lately on his twitter that he will soon be finishing up the schedule for the 2010 World Series of Poker. While the WSOP is still six months away, there are five things I would like to see at this years WSOP:

Electronic or Automated Option Registration

There has been online registration for a couple of years now, but it is not TRUE online registration. You must still go to the cage at the Rio and print out your ticket. True online registration means that I can pay for my seat online, get my table and seat number generated online, and then show up to the event the day of my event and go straight to my table and sit down. No cage visits, no extra hoops to jump through. If you have a Total Rewards Card, this should be an option.

Expand the Satellite Options for Players

Except for the day of the event, the only game you can play to satellite into an event is Holdem. While there isn’t high demand for the other games, take some type of a waiting list for the other satellites. Let them register or take a board, and by a board, I mean buy a board and put the names up.

At least try this for a year. If they try this and it is run properly and there is still no interest, I will never complain about this again.

Improve the Food Choices and Options Available

The food options around the Amazon Room are pitiful. The poker kitchen at its best is really just passable and many times, I will get a cold sub. Get a few more nearby options, including healthier options and I think they will do well. Six hour old Pizza Hut pizza isn’t cutting it.

Expansion of Game Offerings

Poker is ever evolving and there are a couple of games that are beginning to pick up a substantial following, namely Badugi and PL Five Card Draw. I tweeted Jack Effel and suggested a mixed stud event and a PL Five Card Draw event. I do believe that the addition of Badugi is just around the corner with its growing popularity. I also think that PL Draw should be considered. It is not as archaic a game as one may think. I would play a PL Draw event if the buy-in wasn’t huge.

Lower Buy-ins on Certain Events

As was proven last year, you will get more players in events if you lower the buy-in. Certain events such as the Razz event were actually raised in price. In my opinion, there should be at least one event in each poker discipline at the $1,500 level.

Will these changes come about? It is hard to say. I am interested in seeing how this year’s WSOP turns out with all of the recent changes. I’m also anxious to see the schedule. Once it comes out, be sure to know I will post it and give you my thoughts. Good luck to you at the tables.
